I get to the party a little later than everyone else
there's gotta be a reason why I always show up by myself
so I sit in the corner with this girl and she tells me that there's more to this than we'll ever know
and I say all I want's to be with someone
whose one last kiss will get me through the night
can you tell me you can give me this?
we go outside and we take a ride in my car
she says to pull over so we can talk and look at the stars
sitting on the hood with her I look into her eyes
a chance I had that I let slip by
and we talk on about our dreams in life
ignoring the temptations of our lips
and searching for the words we might have missed
we get back to the house as the party starts to die down
sitting on a couch with her I take a quick look around
and I ask her if she would like to dance
the party's almost over this is my last chance
she nods and she smiles as she leads me to the middle of the room
and we dance on to songs that bring us back
and with my arms around her waist I say
I'm hoping that the music never ends
I'm waiting for the record to skip
so we can do this all over again.
